Seasonal Dead Zone- areas were an ongoing decrease of organisms is occurring due to some environmental catastrophe, and usually happening in a marine setting.
deluge- A great flood. A heavy downpour. Something that overwhelms as if by a great flood.

Carcinogen: any substance or agent that tends to produce a cancer.
Emit- to give off.
Benzene: an organic chemical compound. It is composed of 6 carbon atoms in a ring with one hydrogen atom attached to each carbon atom.
robust = strong and healthy.
Algal bloom: rapid increase or accumulation in the population of algae in an aquatic system.
Exacerbating: to make a problem, bad situation, or negative feeling worse.
Anthropocentric: human-centered.
entomologist - a scientist specializing in the study of insects.
poacher - one who engages in the theft or illegal killing of animals or plants.
rancorous-full or showing bitterness
