APES 2010-11
Each of you will be creating a blog for APES Current Events when we are together in the computer lab.
Setting up your blog:
1. Select a blog title
Many of you were creative when it came to naming your blogs. As a result, they are impossible to identify in my list of blogs that I follow. Please help me by doing the following:
1. In your dashboard, go to Settings - Basic Tab. Depending on which class you are in, change your title to 6 APES Last Initial, Firstname (mine would be 6 APES P Elizabeth) or 8 APES Last Initial, Firstname. You can keep your current creative title as a subtitle if you would like.
Save settings (this is at the bottom of the page).
2. URL: apespelizabeth.blogspot.com (first letter of last name followed by first name)
Other settings that you should do now -
Go to Settings:
Permission - only people I choose: eplatt@smithtown.k12.ny.us
Comments - embedded and moderation always
Next, still under Settings, go to the Comments Tab. Look for Show Word Verification for Comments, click NO. Save settings (also at the bottom of the page).
Please make sure that I am listed as a viewer and not an additional author of your blog.
Here are some of the items that you must include:
1. Title of Article with a hyperlink to the ORIGINAL article.
2. A picture/diagram/photograph that relates to the article.
2. Record your textbook chapter # and title that this article relates to.
3. Determine if the article deals with global, national, regional or local environmental issues.
4. Summarize the article in your own words.
5. State your opinion about this issue and explain.
6. Select one vocabulary word from the article and define it. This does not have to be a science word, it can be any word that you are not familiar with.
Eight articles are required per quarter. These will be averaged in as a test grade for the quarter. You may submit a maximum of two per week, so be sure to keep up!
